Why it works: #1Why it works are replacing the feature's. Instead of just featuring, I'm also going to add a little description of why I think it's a good photograph
+The sky isn't over exposed
+Rule of thirds (building in the upper left corner)
+Depth of field
+Leading lines on the road draw your eye to the car
+Color red pops from the rest of the photo
+Bokeh / Depth of Field
+Shells are framed well against the background
+Everything is properly exposed
+There's a foreground and a background
+Great detail due to a very small aperture
+Depth of field
+Great use of background
Art History: The creator of the term photographyIt's a new semester which means Art History is back!
Herschel made numerous important contributions to photography. He made improvements in photographic processes, particularly in inventing the cyanotype process and variations (such as the chrysotype), the precursors of the modern blueprint process. In 1839, he made a photograph on glass, which still exists, and experimented with color reproduction, noting that rays of different parts of the spectrum tended to impart their own color to a photographic paper. Herschel made experiments using photosensitive emulsions of vegetable juices, called phytotypes and published his discoveries in the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London in 1842. He collaborated in the early 1840s with Henry Collen, portrait painter to Queen Victoria. Herschel originally discovered the platinum process on the basis of the light sensitivity of platinum salts, later developed by Willi

Feature #50HII EVERYONE!!!!!
YESSS!!!! WE'VE REACHED OUR FIFTIETH FEATURE!!!!
Can you believe that? fifty features... and it was all possible because of you, fellow members.
This group was initially an idea of :iconladyofsilver: to expose the numerous photographs that're on dA, which have a story to tell or a moment to capture and now, in this fiftieth feature, we've seen a lot come and go
Members, give yourself a round of applause you're all wonderful - whether its putting works in the numerous folders, or asking for critique, or being selected by the feature folder, all of you have contributed in turning this group from a humble gathering of photographs, to a wonderful collection of stories told in pictures. Each story literally is a breath of fresh air.
And this time, I'd like to share random works from every single folder!

Group Therapy: Through-a-LensdekorAdum of Through-a-Lens is sitting on Fella's couch for this month's session.
For those of you not familiar with this series, each month we'll be delving into a group that is dedicated to their members and giving back to the dA Community through exposure, hosting regular events and just being an all around awesome place for deviants to settle in and feel welcome.
In a couple sentences, can you please describe what your group is about?
The group was originally founded by ScENeYmE to serve as a hub for photography. I really hope that under my lead, we are still doing fine as there are many other groups out there what are serving with the same purpose.
Aside from lots of hard work, what do you do to keep your members active and involved?
When we plan a change we usually post a poll asking the members what they think about it. We consider t

How It Began"God, your two o'clock is here."
"I have a two o'clock?"
"He's been here since 7:45. I figured it's only polite to... sir."
God sighed. "Fine, send him in."
While He waited God cleared His desk of papers and blueprints; no need for outsiders to see His plans. Soon enough the door to His office opened and God stood, smiled, held out a hand towards one of the two visitor's chairs.
"God! Great stuff you're doing in sector 2-7-0! Great stuff!"
The man's hands were clammy, his handshake limp. Rumpled suit, porkpie hat, briefcase... oh Jes-- oh dear, a salesman. God's smile slipped a little but He soldiered on gamely. With luck He could shoo the poor guy away in a few minutes.
"So, what can I do for you?"
The man sat, briefcase across his knees. "Sector 2-7-0! Everyone's talking about it! What do you call it? Man and merman?"
"Man and woman, actually. And thanks. But we're pretty busy around here, and..."
"Oh! Right! No time for the wicked, eh?" The salesman winked and popped his briefcase,
