Admins wanted!Hi there everyone!
Thanks for hanging in there... Unfortunately we are still in need of some new admins due to the amount of submissions to the group. The admins that are left can't do the job by themselves.
We are looking for admins that are:
Competent to that extent that you can give good feedback
Motivated to help other deviants improve their work
Dedicated to spending a little bit of your spare time contributing to this group
Polite to members and other admins
I hope some of our members now will consider joining our admin team We really need all the help we can get. Don't be shy, please send us a personal note - we will read and consider every note. Tell us a little bit about yourself and your experience and why you want to contribute.
We really want this group to be more up and running. Please let us know if you are interested in helping us.
Good news, everyone! You can now submit 2 photos per week! It takes 4 votes for your photos to be accepted or declined.
Keep up the good work!
WE ARE STILL ALIVE. BARELY. ADMINS WANTED!Hello fellow deviants!
We're in some deep trouble.
As you may have noticed, this group's slowly dying of stagnancy and we need some fresh breeze!
The admin team is on its knees because of too many submissions and to be honest, there's only 2-3 people voting, so they can't do everything by themselves.
What we need right now are competent people who have the time and motivation to help out other photographers and would like to join our team.
If you feel like you could do this and would like help us create a new dynamic team of admins, send us a note and introduce yourself a little. It can be a one simple sentence introduction, if you don't feel like it.
Every note will be read and considered so don't be shy.
I understand the frustration with submissions is growing daily, but with your help, we could get back on our feet again and showcase your art as soon as you post it, give you critiques and help you with our advice, (maybe even) organize some competitions!

Groupon Sued for Using Instagram Photos....Groupon Sued for Using Instagram Photos Without Permission
Groupon is being hit with a class action lawsuit that claims the deals company has repeatedly used Instagram photos without permission from the photographers.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports that the suit was filed yesterday by a photographer named Christine Dancel in the Illinois Cook County Circuit Court. Dancel says she shot a photo of herself at a restaurant last Summer and shared the tagged photo on Instagram. Soon after, she found that the Chicago-based Groupon had used her photo in a deal offer for that same restaurant.
The suit claims that over 1,000 Instagram photographers have had their photos stolen in an identical way as “a core part of Groupon’s advertising strategy.”
“Groupon intentionally creates the false impression that the consumers appearing in the photos are endorsi

The difference between Vector and Vexel ArtAfter writing my first article on an introduction to getting into vexel and vector art, a question was raised to do with the differences between the art forms.
I guess being so engrossed with the art forms for over 6 years now, I've taken my knowledge for granted. It's typical of any artist in most genres. What knowledge and skill set we have is second nature. So my second article, I'd like to show and explain you the differences between Vexel and Vector art. So I present to you, the dummies guide to the difference between vexel and vector art!
Looking straight at the work, it's hard to tell the difference between a skillfully created vexel and a vector. This is because they are not a style of art, but a medium of art.
When we say a "medium" we mean with how a piece of art is created or what with. For instance we have both traditional and digital paintings. A traditional painting is created with, for example,
How to Suggest a Daily Deviation ( DD )Although there are other news articles on this subject, it is still unclear to a lot of people how and what to suggest for a DD.
i will guide you through the process step-by-step
What kind of images should i suggest?
no absolute answer here, but you should suggest something that stands out from the crowd. Something with either an unique concept, quality or beauty.
Browsing the DD section for a while could give you an idea, though art and taste is subjective.
It is ok to suggest a friends piece, but don`t do it just because its a friend, do it if the piece is excellent.
Who am i gonna suggest it to and what should i write?
http://help.deviantart.com/18/ has the list of all the gallery directors and what category they are "attached" to, all you need to do is check the category the image is in, and take it from there.
Under the image you want to suggest is a thumb code ( under page views )
Lets say you want to suggest for a daily deviation, you copy the thumb co

How to avoid being a Miscat: Artisan SubcategoriesGallery Descriptions and Miscats Month
You've made your art and you're ready to submit it! You've followed SinistrosePhosphate's Part 1 [ How to avoid being an AC Miscat: A Flow Chart ] and have determined that, in fact, your art is not digital or traditional, but hold-in-hand craft! You click the first step of the category process, "Artisan Crafts", and then...
Ahhh! What are all these subcategories doing here?! How will you know which place your art fits into?!
Don't worry, I'm here to help.
3D Printing is one of the brand new categories introduced last year. If your piece is mostly 3D Printed - that is, created digitally with Computer Aided Design (CAD) and then printed out (in any material!) - it belongs here. The most overlooked portion of this category seems to be that it is for finished, tangible, hold-in-your-hands pieces. If your piece is still in the di
Photographing your artwork - Technique and ApproSometimes, artwork can be too big or too oddly shaped to fit into a flatbed scanner. Scanning an artwork in sections and piecing it together afterward is always an option, but it can be difficult if the piece can't sit flush against the scanners recessed glass at all edges. Scanners have an incredibly short focal range. If the image is raised even one millimeter off of the surface, it will become terribly out of focus. Piecing together an image, without it being time consuming, can typically produce inaccurate results compared to the real work.
For this reason, it can typically be recommended that you photograph larger artworks to get the WHOLE image, faithfully, in one go. Photographing artwork isn't like scanning an image, though. There are a lot of conditions that can greatly affect the quality result of your shot. Scanners generate their own light in a closed space. This gives you a uniform result every time. Photography, however, relies heavily on the lighting within the room, or
